FORMING



As the amount of powder metallurgy increases, the process requirements will also continue to improve. As the most critical equipment for the production of powder metallurgy parts, the forming press aims to produce compacts with a certain shape, size, density and strength. The performance of forming press determines the quality of powder compacts and restricts the development of China's powder metallurgy industry. Although the powder metallurgy plant has introduced advanced molding equipment and production lines from abroad, its technology cannot be broken through, and the introduction alone cannot fundamentally solve the problem. Therefore, the development of powder molding equipment is also a major trend in the powder metallurgy industry.


In addition, with the government's demand for environmental protection and economic development, many iron casting plants have been closed, and the remaining casting plants have been highly automated. The precision castings produced in the old casting plants are either no longer applicable or the price is too high. Even during the transition period, powder metallurgy provides a competitive process for the production of expensive parts from parts and forgings.

At present, Lianyungang Fuchi Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Co., Ltd. has about 30 forming presses with a tonnage of 40T-630T. In the process of powder metallurgy pressing, there are many kinds of presses, which are generally divided into mechanical presses and hydraulic presses.

       

Precautions for forming and pressing


(1) Most of the metal powder is crushed by the mixture of metal powder. Before applying pressure, mix the lubricant (such as stearic acid, stearate or wax) with the metal powder. Lubricant can reduce friction and prevent the blank from sticking to the die wall. The lubricant must be removed before or during sintering.


(2) In the pressing process, the powder particles rearrange first, and then plastic deformation occurs. With the increase of pressure, the blank density increases. Due to the friction and stress transfer in the compression process, the density distribution of the entire section of the blank is uneven. The stress acting on the powder will not be transferred to the corner of the blank, so it is uniaxial.


(3) The bending strength of the rectangular sample pressed with powder determines the generating strength. The parts forming the mold include female, upper punch, lower punch and mandrel. Apply pressure to the die stamping, press the parts, and peel the blank through die stamping or over cutting movement. The working sequence of die parts must be strictly synchronized.


(4) Mechanical or hydraulic presses are usually used to press powder. For small and simple parts, a rotary table press with multiple dies can be used instead of conventional dies. In most cases,


The female die is made of hard alloy, and the die and mandrel are made of tool steel. The blank of the press shall have accurate dimensional tolerance, and the fit clearance between die parts shall be small.
