The role of planetary gear mechanism in automatic transmission is to change the transmission ratio and transmission direction. The planetary gear is a great test of the technology and production control ability of the powder metallurgy plant, because the planetary gear mechanism is composed of a central gear (sun gear), a ring gear, a planetary carrier, and a planetary gear. The clutch and brake are used to change the relative motion relationship of the elements in the planetary gear mechanism, so as to achieve transmission at different gears and change the transmission ratio.
Planetary gear refers to a gear system in which, in addition to being able to rotate around its own rotation axis like a fixed axis gear, its rotation axis also rotates around the axis of other gears along with the planet carrier. The rotation around its axis is called "rotation", and the rotation around the axis of other gears is called "revolution", just like the planets in the solar system, hence the name.
The production of planetary gears by powder metallurgy technology has the following characteristics:
(1) Planetary gear consists of center wheel, gear ring, planet carrier, planet, etc. During operation, the sun gear, planet carrier and gear ring are concentric, that is, they rotate around the common axis. This can eliminate the intermediate shaft and intermediate gear used for manual transmission;
(2) All P/M gears are always meshed with each other, and there is no need to slip gears when shifting, so the friction and wear are small and the service life is long;
(3) The structure is simple and compact, the load is distributed to a large number of teeth, and the strength is large;
(4) Multiple transmission ratios are available.
